Vampire Weekend is a band that formed at Columbia University (read: brainy), they’re poppy and rocky but have a strong afro-pop influence (King Sunny Ade or Paul Simon’s Graceland for the less initiated).  If you never heard their great song from their debut album (and I bet you have) check it out “A Punk”

The first single from their new album is called “Cousins” and it is great too!

This weeks tip: Carolina Liar, “I’m not Over”

When it comes to music I am guilty of the guilty pleasure.  My kids listen to a lot of top 40 radio and actually they call it top 20 (on 20 xm, not just the same songs over and over again the same songs over and over again in a different order!).

Well when Carolina Liar’s two songs come on I am going to admit, I really like them.  One of them is “Show Me What I’m Looking For,” and the other one which you can click on below is “I’m Not Over.”  In my past life I would know all about the bands where they come from and I’d get a little high and mighty about it all, now I don’t care so much, I’m a realtor, not a paid music snob!  So when I did a tiny bit of research for you on Carolina Liar and discovered they come not only from Sweden but from Producer Max Martin who has penned/produced hits for Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and others…. Ok, the guilty pleasure cave has really deepened here!  Enjoy in the privacy of your own…
