The beginning of the school year means so many things–
By Sandy Finkel
shopping for school supplies and clothes, getting carpools organized and just transitioning from the easy final days of summer to the more structured school routine. For me it also meant a visit to the new campus at my daughter’s middle school.
The David Saperstein Middle School opened this year. Attached to the Milken Community High School on Mullholland Drvie, this new school is gives its 7th and 8th graders a beautiful and updated environment in which to learn. Gone are the trailers and asphalt. Now the state of the art classrooms are equipped with smart boards that project from the teacher’s laptop computers, reading nooks, laptops and laptop docking stations plus desktop computer areas.
The flagstone communal areas are lined with benches and trees. Plus the campus has its own rock climbing wall. Truly school campuses have come a long way since I was in school.
