“What to do in the ‘Bu this weekend”
By: Gracee Arthur
Saturday July 30th-Sunday July 31st brings the Annual Malibu Art Festival to the Malibu Civic Center. The event kicks off with the traditional Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Malibu Optimists to benefit the Club’s youth projects ( 8 AM-11AM). The Festival begins at 10 AM and features over 150 art exhibits, live entertainment on two stages, chalk artists, a display of Malibu Surf Cars, Children’s Art Village and food booths. Sunday there will be a Wine Garden event from 12PM-4PM. I love shopping the art festival and have found some fun collectibles there. This year has brought some controversy over the Malibu Chamber of Commerce’s refusal to share the venue with Cornucopia’s weekly Farmer’s Market on Sunday (in spite of City approval). Cornucopia placed ads in local papers asking for community support in hopes next year will bring detente with the Chamber.
Here are some of your other choices for weekend fun in Malibu:
Friday July 29th: Ribbon Cutting in the Civic Center Parking lot for the two refurbished electrical charging stations (11 AM)
