Let’s say you scored some new hot tickets to Justin Bieber at LA Live. Ok, maybe it’s for a Lakers game next season. Either way, you can guarantee that parking will be an issue. Instead of a fight for your next parking spot the size of a motorcycle, why not reserve a spot right away? And for $20. That’s pretty easy.

Go to ParkWhiz.com and reserve your spot ahead of time. You’ll give a credit card number and an email – then you’re set. When the next game or concert is around, it’s as easy as that.

The man who was dubbed as the first openly Jewish man in Hollywood once lived at 4875 Louise Ave Encino. Jolson moved to Encino from New York to allegedly become a gentleman farmer raising cows, chickens, walnuts, and oranges. Jolson was married to Ruby Keeler at the time and they soon adopted a baby boy. They began remodeling and soon turned the five-acre plot of land into a place where Jolson could rehearse for movies and musicals.

It wasn’t long before Jolson’s career flopped and his marriage failed. For several years, however, Jolson served as honorary mayor of Encino and President of its Chamber of Commerce. He remarried, and lived in his Louise street home until his death in 1950. Since then, it’s changed hands many times. Charlie Sheen’s trust bought from Katey Sagal, who bought it from Kirstie Alley in 1997.

This legendary property is currently listed at $6,950,000. To view more photos on the property, check out the property video below:

Here is a novel idea: travel without the hassle of hustling your baggage. What if your luggage was waiting for you at your next vacation spot?

Here to help is an esteemed wardrobe butler called Garde Robe. Give them a ring and the contents of your closet are no longer confined to your closet. They’ll come to you, take anything you could ever need (wedding tux, winter sweaters, designer werewolf costume) and store them in a high-security loft. When it’s close to trip time, login in to your online closest and check out all your photographed items. Check off the need items and they’ll ship whatever you need to wherever you’re going.

When the trip is over, they’ll make the arrangements for everything to be sent back to storage, cleaned up and ready for next time.

And Garde Robe could come in handy even if you’re not planning any trips—like if you just want to free up some closet space for a few summer wardrobe additions.

In Van Nuys situated in the heart of the San Fernando valley. It’s located north of Van Owen, south of Sherman Way, and west of Sepulveda to the 405 freeway. A large number of the homes in the neighborhood were built between 1948-1950, by James Chisholm who originally named his development Chisholm Woods. Chisholm homes have been known for their oversized lots, good craftsmanship and are perfect examples of California ranch homes. The neighborhood was a walnut grove during the turn of the 20th century and some of the walnut trees are still there today. When they were originally built the homes sold for between $22,000-$25,000 and today they sell for between $500,000 and $600,000.

By: Cynthia Sparagna

Sure, the 4th is over, but we still have a lot of summer to live. Although many of us have a few trips scheduled for August, the hot days of July are not over. Fortunately, there are a few economical choices for parents with teen and tweens that are hanging around the house. So here are 4 tips from Sharon Harvey Rosenberg.

Movie camps: National movie chains host summer programs for kids. Typically, these programs are weekly, mid-morning showings of family-friendly features. Check out your local movie theaters to see what programs they offer that your kids will enjoy.

Employment: Older children, especially those 12 and up, can be employed to carry out different household chores during the summer. Given the shortage of summer job opportunities for teens, this option creates a win-win for families. Create a list of long-delayed household projects to delegate to your teenage children. Tasks can include unpacking boxes of books, organizing kitchen cabinets and sorting through closets. For work-at-home parents, teens and tweens can provide entertainment and supervision for younger children.

DIY crafts: Check out your local craft and hardware stores and pick up supplies that will allow your children to get crafty. An example of a fun project that children will enjoy involves decorating wooden frames with ribbons, stickers and other decorative items. Once the frames are finished, insert a family photo and showcase your child’s project.

Education: Community centers, public playgrounds and libraries offer a variety of cultural, sports and educational programs that are free or affordable. Many libraries provide summer reading programs with attractive prizes and other perks to encourage younger children and teens to read. Other library programs include dance classes, poetry workshops and storytelling activities. Check local calendars for events that your children will enjoy.

Urban planners are saying that recent demographic changes are effecting the way home buyers purchase. Instead of looking for bigger lots, newer homes, or more amenities, buyers are looking to purchase homes that are closer to coffee shops, restaurants and grocery stores. Such was the case with Jennifer and Andrew Greenberg who recently bought a house in Portland, Oregon. They purchased a 1950’s ranch home that needed some updates but is close coffee shops and wooded paths.

Home buyers interested in finding homes in walkable communities are using websites such as WalkScore.com. The site allows users to enter an address and receive a score ranging from zero to 100 (“car dependent” to “walkers paradise”) indicating the walkability of the community. A recent study by a non profit company called CEO’s for cities found that houses located within walking distance to amenities raised values by as much as $3,000 per point.

With the latest farmers market trend and desire to eat seasonal foods, what happens to the left overs? Instead of throwing them out, why not learn to preserve the seasons bounty and extend the longevity of these highly desired, seasonal items? This summer, instead of tossing your slowly rotting asparagus into a heaping compost pile, learn how to eat your farmers market purchases all year long.

First, heed your habits. That is, what do you really like? If you wouldn’t want to eat peach cobbler every day from November to March, don’t buy crates of peaches and freeze them unnecessarily. Pick what you like. Also, first find a place to store it before you buy it.

This brings up the important task of freezing your items for preservation. Start small with things like berries in zip lock bags. Lots of items require freezing agents such as a large bag of sugar, a large jug of white vinegar, Ziploc bags, and canning jars. Big-box retailers like Costco stock bulk foodstuffs, while most grocery stores supply general preserving equipment and instructive canning booklets.

Last, stock up. Get the freshest items and preserve them immediately. The best preserved items are the ones that were preserved immediate after harvest. Don’t wait too long.

Good luck!

The issue with motorcycles for most is that they are extremely dangerous. Screaming along the open road with steel machines zipping by you without any protection can be daunting. Alright, terrifying. But now there is one small precaution motorcyclists can take before they jump on their bike. Strap into your leather jacket that, is actually an airbag. The Armored Air Jacket is now available online.

All you have to do is strap your new jacket to your bike with the anchoring cable and if you’re thrown from your bike it will instantly inflate. Pretty amazing.
