Property owners are now undergoing a period of inspection on their septic tanks in order to comply with a new city ordinance.  Using one of the 8 certified firms to test their  septic systems, owners hope to obtain a permit by May 14th.

Roughly 150 septic systems still exist in Calabasas.  Most of the systems remain in the rural areas like Mulholland area, the Highlands and Old Topanga.  So far, only 15 to 20 have been tested, likely due to the protest of homeowners because of the cost of the inspection and the possibility of having to install a sewer system in their neighborhood.  For more information of septic tanks, click here.
