Westlake Village weathers rain storm

We all knew the storm was coming, but I don’t think that anyone expected this type of damage. On Sunday, heavy rains accompanied by fierce winds wreaked havoc all over Ventura County. In Westlake Village a Huge Pine tree was blown down, crushing a full size Chevy van. In Agoura Hills, 80 mph wind gusts toppled Chinese Elm trees in a business park.

I have lived in the Westlake area for almost 20 years and have never seen rain and wind combined to do this much damage. Two eye witnesses that I spoke with watched the Pine tree fall just feet in front of them. Needless to say, I did not park under any trees for the rest of the afternoon!

Not For Ladies. Or is it?Brian Urlacher

For anyone paying attention to sports last week, the main topic was the recent fines for “rough play” on the football field. ARE YOU FREEKING KIDDING ME? The NFL has dished out fines this week to three players who were determined to have hit other players with their helmets. WHAT? Last time I checked, that was the point of the game.

Of course, as soon as the league announced their disciplinary actions, many players were outraged and have spoken out. Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears, who has been one of the leagues best linebackers over the past ten years, said “Its freaking’ football. There are going to be big hits.”  Urlacher went on to add that they might think about changing the name to the NFFL, the National Flag Football League.

As long as I can remember, I have loved football. I grew up with season tickets to the Rams, when they were in Los Angeles. I have been a fan of the game and its hard hits from a very young age. The weekly highlight reel of hard hits are a must see for every sports fan in America. The players wear HELMETS for a reason. It’s dangerous. It’s crazy. It’s exciting. Now lets play some football, and stop crying like little girls.
