“Orcas come to Malibu”

The weather in Malibu has been beautiful and on a recent Sunday a lucky group of whale watchers hit the jackpot when a pod of Orcas (“killer whales”) appeared about a mile off the Malibu Coast. The whale watchers on the boat excursion were in awe as the Orcas hung around and visited with them. One Orca actually got under the boat and gave it a tail whack! It was quite a show including a whale that blew its blow hole and others that rubbed against the boat! Some Orcas dine on sea lions and dolphins which are plentiful in coastal waters off Malibu.

If you would like to experience the whales in action boat tours leave from the Malibu Pier on weekends and holidays at 10:30 and 1:30.  The tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children. Reservations are recommended (310) 456-8031.
