Happy New Year!  I believe it is safe to say we are all looking forward to saying “Goodbye” to 2010 and celebrating the beginning of 2011. Malibu residents now have some terrific choices for New Year’s celebrations close to home.

Here are some of the tantalizing options:

My number one pick is The Sunset Restaurant which recently hired a new chef and revamped its cuisine with a terrific new menu!  The price $75 per person, is modest by New Year’s Eve standards and the menu is stellar. There is dinner, a DJ for dancing and more.

There are two seatings 5-7 is a la carte; second seating at 8 offers an incredible Pre Fixe menu

Beau Rivage is also celebrating this year with a live band and dancing under the stars beaurivagerestaurant.com Charlie’s Malibu has A New Year’s Eve party with live entertainment, party favors and midnight champagne toast. The full ala carte menu is available and service begins at 5PM until “2011 is in full swing”.

Check next week Malibu Times www.malibutimes.com for more options. Reservations are a good idea!

Wherever you are on New Year’s Eve have a wonderful celebration and please remember to drive safely or have a designated driver (if you need any encouragement in this area know that there will be law enforcement checkpoints ).

Next Blog will be in 2011.

The Spirit of Christmas

Give the gift of Spirithood this Christmas!

These delightful hoods are the new ‘Must Have’ this Christmas amongst the cognoscenti of Eco-Chic, or so my 13 yr old daughter announced.  So in the name of dutiful motherhood I scrambled feverishly to find one for her for Christmas and was so taken with them that I bought one for myself too!  ‘Mutton dressed as lamb’ you cry ( and you are  right), but I don’t care!  Made from faux fur to resemble various endangered species, they are utterly irresistible. Soft, warm and practical with little mittens and a zippered pocket on the inside for your money etc, they make the perfect gear for this insane winter storm that’s blasting us right now. But best of all, when  you buy one, a portion of the money  goes to various non-profit organizations  that protect the species that you bought.

Check out they’re website at http://spirithoods.com/
