Sherman Oaks own Casa Vega Restaurant Honored as “Small Business of the Year”:
State Assemblyman Mike Feuer, a Democrat from Sherman Oaks, honored the Casa Vega Restaurant as the 42nd District Small Business of the Year recently. Located at the Northwest corner of Ventura Blvd. and Fulton Ave., Sherman Oaks, the venerable restaurant has existed serving fine family recipes since 1956. At the California Small Business Association’s 2009 California Small Business Day, Sherman Oaks Casa Vega owner, Rafael “Ray” Vega, accepted the award. The landmark restaurant is just 3 blocks east of the Sherman Oaks office of Ewing & Associates | Sotheby’s International Realty. Casa Vega Restaurant has been family owned and run since it’s opening over 53 years ago. Ray said he believes he should be thanking all of his customers for their patronage, instead of his customers thanking him for “being here”. Casa Vega is just north of the area known as Longridge Estates. It is also just around the corner from Sherman Oaks’ own wonderful Dixie Canyon Avenue Elementary School.
When my kids were growing up, we ate at Casa Vega often, Gary Krieger said. The food was always first rate and the atmosphere and service was great. One of the great treasures of growing up in the Longridge Estates area of Sherman Oaks was the tradition of going to the local restaurants and the memories they engendered. As a special treat, Grandma often took the kids for a special dinner at Casa Vega.
Gary Krieger, Estate Agent, sends his congratulations from all of us at Ewing & Associates | Sotheby’s International Realty to the Vega family.
